Overview

WaPop adds a floating WhatsApp button and greeting popup to Shopify stores. This policy explains what the app stores — and, just as importantly, what it never touches.

Data we collect

• Shop account information from the Shopify install (the shop domain and the login session), needed to run the app for that store.
• The merchant's own settings — WhatsApp number, messages, button design, greeting text, agents, triggers and schedules — stored in the shop's own metafield (chatpop.settings), which the storefront embed reads.
• Aggregate storefront analytics — counts of widget views, greeting views and chat clicks, with the page, agent and greeting-variant they came from. These are totals only.

Data we never collect

• Shoppers' names, phone numbers or personal details.
• WhatsApp message content. Chats happen between the shopper and the merchant inside WhatsApp itself — messages never pass through WaPop's servers.
• Customer accounts, order data or payment data.

Cookies

The merchant admin runs on Shopify's own session. The owner-admin page on this site uses a single login cookie that holds no personal data — only a cryptographic check that the owner password was entered. It expires after 7 days.

Service providers

When a merchant views the chat QR code in the admin, the merchant's wa.me link is sent to qrserver.com to render the QR image. Public pages load fonts from Shopify's CDN. No other third party receives app data, and data is never sold.

Retention and deletion

When a shop uninstalls WaPop, the app deletes that shop's sessions and analytics rows. Shopify's shop-redaction request (48 hours after uninstall) deletes the same data again. A customer-redaction request has nothing to delete, because no customer-level rows exist. Settings stored in the shop metafield are removed by Shopify when the app is uninstalled.
